Can you believe that the school year is almost over? I cannot. It has been a great year and I will truly miss these boys and girls.
Dairy Queen Trip a go! On the afternoon, of May 22 (our last day of school) students in ours and Mrs. Silver’s class will be walking to Dairy Queen to purchase a frozen treat. Notes will go home next week. Your child will be asked to perform some sort of chore(s) in order to earn $1 to spend at Dairy Queen. So, start brainstorming with your child on what he/she can do to earn that dollar. Students will write, briefly, about the job they did to earn the money. They will then become the consumer as we purchase a product.
Things to look forward to next week:
Department of Conservation Presentation: Neta Collier from the Smithville Conservation Department will bring over snakes, turtles, and salamanders to present to the class. Students will learn about these native wildlife and get a chance to hold them as well.
Fishing Field Trip: On Wednesday, our class will head out to the Platte Falls Conservation Site for a morning of hiking and fishing. Students will then have a picnic lunch to follow.
Field Day: On Friday, students will participate Field Day. It starts at 8:30 and runs til 10:30. After this, students will have activities in the classroom, finishing the day with activities in the gym.

Upcoming Dates of Importance
It has been a very busy week. However, it is finished and we have the weekend ahead of us. Then, we just have four more weeks of school.
Next week, we will be taking the SAT 10. This is an achievement test. Testing will occur daily between 10:30 and 12:20. Please do everything you can to assure that your child is here during those times. Also, please make sure your child eats a good breakfast, has a healthy snack, and gets a good night of rest.
Dates for the Fishing Field trip have been determined. All parents are invited to come along. We will spend the morning at the conservation area, fishing. We need lots of extra hands to help kids bait hooks and take off fish. We will be going on Wednesday, May 15 with Mrs. Silver’s class.
