Friday Report – May 8, 2009

Can you believe that the school  year is almost over? I cannot.  It has been a great year and I will truly miss these boys and girls.

Dairy Queen Trip a go! On the afternoon, of May 22 (our last day of school) students in ours and Mrs. Silver’s class will be walking to Dairy Queen to purchase a frozen treat.  Notes will go home next week. Your child will be asked to perform some sort of chore(s) in order to earn $1 to spend at Dairy Queen. So, start brainstorming with your child on what he/she can do to earn that dollar. Students will write, briefly, about the job they did to earn the money.  They will then become the consumer as we purchase a product.

Things to look forward to next week:

Department of Conservation Presentation: Neta Collier from the Smithville Conservation Department will bring over snakes, turtles, and salamanders to present to the class.  Students will learn about these native wildlife and get a chance to hold them as well.

Fishing Field Trip: On Wednesday, our class will head out to the Platte Falls Conservation Site for a morning of hiking and fishing. Students will then have a picnic lunch to follow.

Field Day: On Friday, students will participate Field Day.  It starts at 8:30 and runs til 10:30.  After this, students will have activities in the classroom, finishing the day with activities in the gym.
